When Mom asked if we would walk with them in the Drumstick Dash the Dowdy's started training right away...and by training we mean going to Kroger's and buying 3 boxes of Little Debbie Christmas Tree cakes! We have wanted to do this for years and we were so excited to finally get to participate this year! Amy Jo and Greg even came in a day early to surprise mom by having the entire family together during the walk! As we walked towards downtown and saw the thousands of people (11,000 to be exact) Chris said in a joking but we all knew he was serious voice, "It brings a tear to my eye to see people that live in our valley supporting our valley"! He was right! The Roanoke Valley was able to support and raise millions of dollars for their very own Rescue Mission that serves the people of our city! I'm proud of our valley! And yes it did "make my heart happy"!
Amy Jo walking towards the starting line!
All bundled up and ready to run! And by run sissy means ride in style in her stroller!
Amy Jo surprising Mom!
The whole gang...bless this lady's heart...she could could NOT figure out the camera and poor sissy got cut out!
Sam did walk for a good part of it...then he started hitching rides!
The finish line!! Both of mine hitched a ride for this!
We had so much fun! And what a great lesson to teach our children! Now excuse me, I have to go set my alarm...Chris and I are training for next year's run...MUAHAHAHAHA!!!
