16 weeks!!!

Back by popular demand...belly shots!  Here Baby D and I at 16 weeks and 3 days (Thank you baby ticker)!  Please ignore the hair, this is way after first grade and way into the frizzy stage!

You would be so proud, I even had to set up the timer on the camera which was angled just perfectly on the counter by candy corn (don't ask, even my own camera skills amaze me, seriously who knew...if you are lacking a tripod, just use candy corn!)  And side note, my behind is not really that big...at least I don't think it is, I'm guessing it was the pockets on the maternity jeans, at least I'm hoping!:)   I tried to crop it (being the behind) out of the pic, but then it kept making me laugh so I decided it def. needed to stay!!!

OK I'M BUSTED! I was told by two individuals that I had not blogged since Sept. 10th! They actually knew the date (I won't mention any names....KELLY!) This gives me some renewed hope that someone out there actually reads this blog. (by the way don't forget to vote for what baby dowdy is!)
On the 15th I went to my doctor's appointment. Everything looks great except that my iron is SEVERALLY low and I have to take this mega pill. The baby's heart rate is 167, which Dr. Martin said could be girl but then again Sam's was 168 so that's not saying much! I go for the big ultrasound on the 20th and Chris and I now think we probably will find out if they can tell within 90 percent what the babe will be. If they can't tell though we won't be bummed out because part of us wants to be surprised! You will be happy to know that I told Dr. Martin about how I went global with my love affair and she started cracking up. I took this little gem of a pic. Yes I took Sam, with the help of mom (Chris had a golf tournament!)

Amy and Greg came in for Amy and Chris's 10 year reunion. Of course that means the cousins came over for a "sleepover". Don't they just love each other!!! (ps...reunion is a WHOLE other post!)
Sam playing at a family picnic! Apparently Jo and I didn't know how fast Sam was because he took off through a tube and mom had to sprint across the wiggly bridge (official term, I'm sure) THROUGH the very tiny tube to catch him. Of course he was laughing hysterically the whole way, while I was concentrating on not having an "accident" from laughing.

Amy and Sam at the family part of the reunion! Check out those cute overalls...Don't you want to pick him up and squeeze him!!! Chris says, and I quote, "Sam was definitely the cutest kid there!" Apparently there was a contest I wasn't made aware of!!!
I will be honest with all you internets out there...I haven't had the greatest day or week...I'm not feeling to "inspired" so I will end with a list of things I ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY DID NOT DO within the past 24 hours...no way hosay...not me...

1. I did not let my son play in box and call it "exploratory play" (please refer to above picture)

2. I did not listen to the 90's music channel while cleaning and most CERTAINLY did not know all the lyrics. And for the music matter I did not listen to Adam Sandlers "Hannakuh song" while writing this post, and once again I most CERTAINLY didn't sing along and LOL so hard that I almost peed my pants.

3. I did not let my son play outside in the rain while I brought groceries in...what respectable mom would let that happen???

4. Speaking of the grocery store, I did NOT go the grocery store to get one thing for supper and spend 60 bucks and then proceed to order Applebee's to go, on my home instead of cooking...nope...not me!

5. I did not inform 16, 6 years old that yes it was infact ok for Mrs. Dowdy to eat her fruit rollup during reading groups because it was "for the baby"! I did NOT tell them, "One day when you're the teacher...you can eat a fruit rollup, until then....READ!" In no way, shape, or form did I buy 2 more boxes of fruit rollups...but if I did...I would go all out and get the tongue tattoos.

6. I DID NOT have a mini-mommy, pregnancy hormone filled, break down about the fact that I'm basically raising 16 "other people's kid" and I don't even get to play blocks with my own son because once I get home from raising my other 16 kids I have to cook, clean, and go to the grocery store...I'm way to strong to have a melt down like that!!!

7. I did not keep a mental countdown until the premiere of the new "Office". What kind of nerd-o person would do that...not me!

8. No way did I cut all my hair off and get a "mommy-do", then insist 5 minutes later I was growing it out!

9. I did not pretend to not hear my son playing in Elli's dog bowl.

10. I did not read 0 miles left on my gas gauge...(ps. 0 really doesn't actually mean 0)

If there anything you def. did not do this week????

a quick post!

Here is a list of randomness....
-I couldn't remember how far along I was, so I actually logged into my own blog to check the baby ticker...can we say PATHETIC!
-My belly has been rubbed approximately 1,904,785 times by little first grade hands and I'm only 14 weeks. I just MAY have to bring out the ol "Mrs. Dowdy's baby needs their bubble" line from Sam's pregnancy! and yes my "cultured friend" in first grade informed the whole class today during reading groups that is was ok for Mrs. Dowdy to be eating a pop tart during class because it's "for the baby, yall"
-I go to my next appointment on Monday!!! I will try and take a picture of my doctor for you guys because I KNOW you are dying to meet her...and lets be honest after I hug her tightly she will already think I'm not normal!
-I must be having some serious pregnancy hormones because the past 3 nights I have sat in Sam's room and watched him sleep. He is just growing up so dag-on fast and he is just the cutest little thing sleeping, and the first night he was sleeping in the EXACT same position as I sleep. In my defense I did have to turn his fan off because for some reason my husband thinks even though its still 80 degrees outside this pregnant irrational women doesn't need the air on...something about saving money or something totally ridiculous like that! So it was 100 degrees when we put Sam down so we turned the fan on, but I didn't want him to get too cold so I HAD to sneak in and see that little man sleeping so I could turn the fan off of course!

I will end with this funny "you had to be there story"! Let me preface this story by saying I'm not judging any one particular life style...it just made me laugh. Those that know my husband knows he is not what we like to call a "seasoned shopper". Even after all these years he STILL does not "GET" why us English girls go out in the wee hours of Black Friday morning or why it is SO necessary to arrive first at Target on the day after Christmas! I mean COME ON PEOPLE did he totally miss the A-DOR-ABLE berry wreath I got last year...I basically had to throw a right hook to grab the last one! Anyways, Chris actually asked me to go shopping for shoes, so we ventured to trusty ol Rack-Room for the ol, buy one get one 50 percent off (Translation = husbands find one pair of shoes he can settle on and "oh I guess I will have to find a pair I like because we just CAN NOT let that 50 percent go to waste). To my utter shock he found a pair of sneakers AND a pair of slip on Sperry's...I KNOW...he didn't know they were actually "name brand" or what the kids call "hip" or they would have been totally out of the question. So there I am chasing around Sam trying to convince him that were great, thinking with an evil chuckle in my head that he has no IDEA they are trendy, mainly because he can't even pronounce the name right bless his heart, when he looks at me and asks, "are you sure they aren't too..you know..."girly"?" I kid you not, not 3 SECONDS later a "couple shall we call partners" walk in, go STRAIGHT to the SAME shoe and BOTH guys try them on. Chris looks at me with the most straight (sorry for the pun) face and says, "If LT came in and tried these shoes on, they would already be in my car paid for!" Instead I had to spend the next 20 minutes trying to convince him they were the most manly shoes I've ever seen... because I was not wasting my chance for him to buy cute shoes or the 50 percent off and well...they didn't have my size in the most adorable little black flats. He finally decided on the shoes and because this is my blog and once again he should check it more often, I will disclose.....he actually wore them out of the store!!!

And last my not least....
I have competition. Seems I'm not the only English who can write...can't she let me have anything??? I'm only kidding, I was as happy as Chris on draft night when I found out AJ started a blog!!!! Check her out at teetimewiththestorcks.blogspot.com
I know, I know...she's the funny one...my cover is officially blown!

its late...I'm tired...and pregnant...please ignore the run on sentences, misspellings, and the excessive use of ...

First Graders 2, Mrs. Dowdy 0

I know, I know..where have I been, def. not blogging that's for sure! Give me a break I'm pregnant! I'm off to a good year at school. I have a funny class, that's very active and very talkative but I'll take it! Here are two funny stories from the 6 year olds:

1. We spend a good chunk of time reviewing the first couple of weeks. So we are discussing the difference between a capital "big A", and lowercase "little a" an ADORABLE little girl who could easily model with a lot of sas and a smile to back it up, stated (and I kid you not) "Big "A" is what my mom calls my dad when he eats all the food off our plates!" I'm not going to lie, I started cracking up right there in middle of the class!

2. Another, well not so little girl but equally adorable little girl, with a name you just knew was going to be trouble the second you laid eyes on it, has cracked me up all week. She is what I like to call "cultured" for a first grader and I'm pretty sure I went to school with her mom, and I'm VERY sure I was a little more than scared of her. All I'm saying is that I'm pretty sure "cheerleaders" were not at the top of her list, I will keep the reminiscing of high school days to a minimum at the first parent teacher conference. Anyways...I decided to not tell my first graders about the bun in the oven just quite yet...until one of the teachers who picks up my car riders in the afternoon announces that I have quite the little "baby bump", this little girl over hears and yells at the top of her lungs in her little bedford accent (ok..its really a redneck accent I was just trying to be polite)..."you pregnant? I knew you were!" Then approximately every 30 minutes she deems it necessary to interrupt our "learning conversations" to ask if (remember the accent)"that baby started kick'n you yet....if it has...I wanna feel it! She makes me smile at least a gazillion times a day and I love the diversity I have in my class...it makes for a very interesting, unique day! While you love the little girls that sit silently, never breaking a rule...a lot of the times its the ones who give you a true run for your money that finds a special place in your heart and....I like this girl...she has spunk...and I like her... a lot!

On to the random pregnancy side thoughts:
~Tonight I fixed hot dogs, crunchy cafeteria fries, and shells and cheese AND I had the NERVE to not only call it a meal BUT I called it....DINNER...the nerve! I realize with this meal I might have officially become by mother. If I start saying things like "I brought you into this world and I can take you out" or "I bought your birth certificate from Big Lots" please smack me. Might I add in saying that last statement I cringe at the thought of the deals I passed up from the ages of 11-18 from not being caught dead in Big Lots...shameful!
~I just tipped up a medium Tiger's Blood brought to me by the HOTY (Husband of the Year). I'm not going to lie...it was good!
~Oh, I have told you about the love affair I have with my doctor...SHE IS GREAT, she just gets me and all my mildly odd tendencies, puts up with my "questions", lets us steal the good magazines, and she knows how to joke with Chris!!!! After I had Sam she gave birth to twins (and she has a 3 year old) therefore, rightfully so, she cut back her hours to 9-12 making it impossible for her teacher patients to go to her because you KNOW we need early morning or late afternoon appointments!! I was DEVASTATED because well I told you already...I HEART HER and my heart only has room for one super cool gyno, and I could NEVER cheat on her and...GASP...go to someone else!! Well a bunch of us (teachers) got pregnant at the same time (including Nikki Sowers:)) and begged and pleaded with her AND she agreed to stay late one night a week JUST for her TEACHERS....I LOVE HER...seriously! BUT, I have to wait two more weeks for my next appointment:( then in two weeks, she will schedule ALL my AFTERNOON appointments all the way until Jan. Would it be weird to hug her tightly on my first appointment?...you're right...I'll try and refrain!
