Wordless Wednesday: Bath Edition

*Did you notice Charley's busted blood vessel in her left eye...its better now.  We are going to go ahead and assume that this would be an after affect of a "brotherly hug gone wrong".  Sam would like to say: "Sorry Sissy"!

tonight, my almost 3 year old slept in his PJ's....

INSIDE OUT!!!!!   He wants his mommy to "stays with Sam", so I told him it needed to snow!  And we pulled out all the stops tonight...because Sam's mommy wants to "stays with Sam" too!!! 

Come on now...join the cause...put those PJ's inside out for Sam's sake!!! 

When his hair is wet...it looks even more red...I love it!!!

Meet Bella...

edited to note:  I had a coupon for 5 dollars off AND we only let him choose from the 12 dollar animals, AND they gave us the bows for free...so Bella the Bunny only cost 7 dollars...but as they say, the memory...ohh the memory is PRICELESS!!! 

...the bunny!!!  Over the Christmas holiday (yes, I'm still talking about Christmas...its my blog :)) we wanted to make sure Sam understood the whole "giving is better than receiving" thing!  So a couple weeks before Christmas we took him to "Build-a-Bear" to "make" sissy a Christmas present!  We let him pick out the stuffed animal, stuff it, name it, and he even picked out the colors for the bows...because did we mention this bunny was for Charley (AKA the bow QUEEN)!!   He was SO excited to give Bella the Bunny to sissy!  He came home, decorated the box with markers and stickers and put it under the tree!  It was the only present we had under our tree until Christmas day and every time some came to the house he was SO EXCITED to show him his present for Sissy!!  And I do believe Sissy just loved her gift!

Seriously though, how big does sissy look in her big girl car seat??  We haven't put it in the car yet, she was just taking it out for trail run in the house!

Sam is always so willing to help!!  He loves "running errands" with mommy and anytime I have to run to the store for something quick he always goes with me as my helper!!  He also always helps me with the trash!  As I was taking the trash to the curb I came back to this:

He got the bag AND put it on ALL.BY.HIMSELF...I barely have Chris trained to do that!!!   While you might not think this is a big deal...I happen to have my own, shall we say "inside man" at the Glad factory and I thought this would make you proud...this one's for you Wayne!!! 

infamous sidenote 1: while I was writing this post Nonnie (Fayanga) called to let us know he just got back from playing basketball and swimming...I.LAUGHED.FOR.5.STRAIGHT.MINUTES.  If you have seen Nonnie attempt either of the two you would be laughing too...and then Chris says...and I quote, "don't go drowning on us"!!  Oh my!!  But then I started thinking about how proud of him I was!   He is adjusting so well to college and "hanging with the boys" is such a big part of it!!  Now if we could work on that pysch. grade...eeeehem! 

infamous sidenote 2:  while I was writing the post I was also enjoying granola that my husband made...THAT.MY.HUSBAND.MADE...maybe I shouldn't have made him watch Julie and Julia!

Happy 10 months little girl!

I'm a little late, but better late than never!  Here is what Miss Priss is up to lately:

-being stinkin cute...I mean seriously people...stinkin cute:

-you want to feed yourself now.  You will still let me feed you baby food but you perfer to be in charge! 

-You still sleep 12 hours and mommy and daddy wish to say, "You rock"!!

-you cruise around everything SUPER SPEEDY.  You like to walk holding on to our fingers but as soon as we let go...you hit the ground crawling! 

-You are talking up a storm!!!  You say momma and dada and a form of Elli!!  If I say, "Where's Elli?" You look all around for her and yell out "eeeee-E" (that would be my sign for a short E sound, followed by a long E sound)

-One of my favorite parts of the day is when I walk into get you in the morning!  We can hear you "chatting it up" and when we walk in to get you you have THE.BIGGEST.SMILE. on your face.  Lots of times Daddy and I fight over who gets to go in first because you just are SO cute and SO happy in the morning (F.T.R Sam takes after is Mommy and is NOT a morning person!)

-You like to sway back and forth when you are standing up....we affectionately call it "the stevie" because you look just like Stevie Wonder

-You like to play with anything that is not a toy.

I am sure there are lots more and I'll be updated this post!!! We love you Charley Bird!!!

NYE...Happy 2010!

We had a great NYE here at the Dowdy House!!!  We all met here to watch football, play some Wii, and enjoy some great company!  We were SO.WILD.AND.CRAZY. we got a nugget tray from the Chick AND had a midnight, sprakling grape juice toast...in the fancy glasses...see, I told you....wild and crazy!!!  We were so glad that Kelly's mom forgot these fun party hats (they were headed to the Keys)...we could not let Sonja down, so we made GREAT USE of the hats!!  See how excited Sam is:

The girls!

The crew (minus Amy and Tony, being Amy is way pregnant we let them "slide" and leave our crazy party early!!!  (You see how Brad was "too cool" for the party hat so he tried to put it on Chris...ohh Mr. Collins you party pooper you:) )  You see the cutey patooties on the right...that's April's brother Ben and his girlfriend Meredith...they made it the whole night with us geezers, even if at one point we were talking about epidurals!  It turns out Meredith can kill some Mario Cart, so us girls decided we would keep her!! :)

This is Chris and I's 15th NYE together...every one SINCE 8th GRADE!!!!  If I remember correctly when we celebrated the millenium we were in an intense game of Monopoly...clearly we have uped our game in 10 years being that this year we have added the 'ol Mario Cart to our repetoire...have I mentioned "us" Dowdy's know how to party!! 

 

Here's to having awesome friends!!! We hope that 2010 continues to bring us together!

Snow much fun

We had such a good time playing in our 18 inches of snow right before Christmas!!  Sam LOVED it and begged to play in it every day! We made a snowman, a snow fort complete with a secret tunnel, snow angels, and lots of snow balls for the ultimate snow ball fight!  We went sleigh riding on our street, on our hill, and at Aunt Betty and Uncle Kenneth's farm!  (the latter involved eating THE.BEST.GRILLED.CHEESES.EVER. on Aunt Betty's famous sourdough bread AND Cousin Casey's record breaking dismount after hitting Chris's man-made ramp...all caught on video of course.  Here are just some of the many pictures!

December Rewind,Take 3: Sam's first musical program

 and I use the term "musical program" very. very loosely here folks!  It may or may not have involved Sam ringing a jingle bell for all of 2 minutes...but by golly he was the best darn ringer of said jingle bell out there...but hey, I'm just his mom!!!  He sure did ring that bell the entire song...and Mom, Dad, Sissy, Gee-Jo, Nana, and Papa were there...because we wouldn't miss those 2 minutes for anything!!! 

See the focus!!!!  Everyone else got distracted...not our Sam, he fearlessly led the band!!!  He took his job very serious...."Serious Sam" was in full force!

Here is Miss Spencer.  Lately if you ask Sam who he plays with at school he still says "pencer"...however they have moved from "airpanes" to "baby doll"!  So one day we asked "oh, so you play the dad and Spencer plays the mom?".  And Sam with a very serious face said, "no...pencer daddy, sam mommy".  Then dad, Coach, said very seriously back, "You tell Spencer your Daddy said you have to be the Daddy!"  Then we laughed real hard!!!  Spencer's parents thought it was equally funny and Chris joked with them about maybe throwing a football in the mix for her Christmas presents!!  This was as close as they got for a picture!!!  BTW Mrs. Tiffany confirmed that "the girls just love Sam"!  All I have to say is... "OH MY"!
