We took up all the carpet (by we I mean Chris and Max (soccer team). Chris then looked for any stains on the plywood and bleached them just to be on the safe side.
The renters we really liked needed in May 1st. So we (teams of friends and family) threw everything in the new house but not in the carpet rooms since we knew we needed those cleared. That lead to this: Completely normal right? I highly do NOT recommend this method of moving while being 14 weeks preggers and having 2 small children. The ol nerves will never be the same...HA!
Then Chris and Aaron and some of the soccer guys demo-ed the kitchen. See that floor....yeah that's two layers of linoleum. That was not pretty at all. We called in the soccer team for that one. We figured they couldn't hurt anything with demo! HA! 16 guys came over and helped moved big furniture, take up floor and a deck, and tons of little jobs (i.e. just one guy was put on removing all carpet tacks!...He rocked by the way!) Side story: While taking up the deck the guys found that a raccoon lived under it! He scampered off to the other side but not before the guys could make him an unofficial team mascot and give him a name: "Cooney". We had to demo the deck because there was major leaks to the basement because of poor construction (not our uncle who originally built the house but the last owners). Basically the drainage system was put in wrong so all the water was streaming down the foundation.
Once again...completely normal right? We couldn't move anything upstairs yet because of the carpet!
Sam and Charley loved all the hiding places!
Finally carpet! HALLELUJAH! We have learned a time or two that with carpet...if you have kids...go with a good pad and a dark carpet! We know this from lots of experience! This is the living room downstairs that leads to the dining room. We wanted one room downstairs with carpet for
Master bedroom! We went with the middle color! It's actually the same color that was in the old house! If you know something works...why change it! HA! Neither the carpet or wall color quite look like this but you know how pictures can make things look different! We were happy with how it turned out and with knowing EVERYTHING had a fresh coat of paint! (if anyone was wondering how this got done in a week during soccer season the answer would be several nights of Chris staying up until 2 in the morning and one day off where he and his mom (and Charley) knocked out several rooms!
Sam loved him some hide and seek!
We finally cleared some things out once the carpet was laid and found the dining room table! We actually sat at it to eat a dinner! We like to pay our help in food! Thanks Ryan for moving furniture with a bad shoulder and all!
Stay tuned for even more house updates...It gets even
