Sweet Sarah...

Some of you may remember my sweet friend and coworker Sarah Metcalf from this post.  We share our anniversary with the Metcalfs so on our 5th wedding anniversary we attended their wedding!  She was so sweet to have the DJ play Chris and I's first dance song in honor of our anniversary!  She is one of the most sweet and sincere people I know and Sarah and her sweet little family need our help.

"I just got off the phone with Sarah Pomrenke Metcalf. Some of you may know that last month her husband Darren faced a grim situation when he was diagnosed with an infection on his brain stem. Darren barely survived. He has issues with mobility and vision. He requires extensive care and therapy. and he is now in the midst of a long and uphill battle of recovery, and Sarah has been on FMLA taking care of him since his diagnosis. 

Yesterday Sarah's 3 year old daughter Genevieve was diagnosed with cancer. She had a tumor on her tailbone and when UVA surgeons went in to remove it malignant cells were found. Genevieve starts chemotherapy after Thanksgiving."  

My heart just breaks for Sarah, Darren, and G.  As a school we want Sarah to be able to spend as much time as needed with G and not to have to worry about income and insurance.  We are planning a walk-a-thon for Wed. and each class is asked to raise as much money as possible to help Sarah and her family!  (I've even given my class some incentive by telling them that if we reach our goal I'll let them cut my hair for Locks for Love...you should have seen their faces...priceless)  If you would like to contribute you can give online here at GoFundMe or to our school's PTA website here!  All money will go straight to Sarah and her family.  Join me in praying for this sweet family.  The Dowdy House is Team G!
